Our Journey
Our Journey Begins in May 2020
At the age of 22, I decided in the middle of a pandemic to follow my lifelong dream of Choreography and Dance Education. It may seem like an inopportune time, but God’s timing is always right. I wanted to train dancer’s to excellent in technique and performance, while also allowing them to be kids and protecting them from inappropriate songs, costuming, or themes. What started as Alto School of Dance has now become the Morgan City Dance Theater. A place for technical training, Theatrical productions in place of traditional recitals, and opportunities for growth not only as dancers, but in who my students are as people. We are now going into our 5th anniversary season with a new 3,400 square foot facility at 7554 HWY 182 in Morgan City and could not be more excited for the growth and excitement that lies ahead!
Our Team
At Morgan City Dance Theater, our teaching staff is dedicated to helping our students excel in all areas of dance. Get ready to be inspired and motivated by our talented instructors!
Sarah Herrera

Sarah has been involved in Performing Arts as a Dancer, Teacher, and Judge for over a decade. She extended her training with the National Guatemala Ballet, Baton Rouge Ballet Theater, and Broadway Dance Center in New York. Her teaching experience includes various studios and schools, as well as being the Dance Program Director for Lake Bryn Mawr Camp in Pennsylvania, one of the top 3 girls camps in the U.S. Sarah is also involved in pageantry as the Director for the Miss Spirit of Morgan City Organization, and titleholder as the Miss Pirates and Boots Festival Queen. She also enjoys volunteering as a Cheerleading Coach for Immanuel Christian School.
This summer will be my 5th year as a studio owner, and seeing students improve over that time has been so rewarding. I’ve always dreamed of showcasing the art of performing, not just dancing, in shows that tell a story and connect with the audience. I couldn’t be happier with the direction the studio is going in!
